The Danny Diaries by Trafford author Ann Cluver Weinberg

Trafford Publishing Author’s Corner welcomes you back as Ann Weinberg continues her story about the events in her life that led her to her love for writing. Consequently, by the end of 2013, Weinberg will have published five books in a writing career that has encountered many twists and turns.

It was the second year of Dannyai??i??s breakdown. 1983 July. How much metoprolol for svt Midwinter here in Joai??i??burg. My husband had the month off from his school teaching. He wanted me to get away. I looked terrible. I needed a break

So I went to the Grahamstown Arts Festival. While there I fell in love! This was totally unexpected. Both I and the man were happily married so we didnai??i??t do anything about it, but when I got home I read The Way to Write. It did not tell me how to write the book about my father, but it did tell me how to write poetry. So thatai??i??s what I did. Love poetry.

Ai??

Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai?? Well?

I think

Today is a day

For non-verbal communication,

For the slow moving of skin against skin,

Ai??for being lost inside a kiss ai??i??

Ai??surrounded by its black, deep exclusion of trivialities.

Ai??

For fingers extended out to reach other fingers,

Like God touching Adam on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel,

For eyes resting on other eyes,

Like babiesai??i?? faces on mothersai??i?? cheeks.

Ai??

Today is for saying nothing at all,

For lying silently

\thighs around thighs

Finding soft places

And plying the surfaces

Of hard muscles.

Ai??

But I will say nothing of all this,

And we will talk of Art and Politics and sons,

As usual.

Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??

I wrote about 100 poems altogether ai??i?? about all sorts of things, and using all sorts of styles.

In 1984, a friend told me about Lionel Abrahamai??i??s Writing Class. Lionel was a poet himself and a literary guru. He edited a magazine called SESAME, for stories and poems. He published my poems.

In the class, people read ai???storiesai???. But mostly these were just slices of their lives. I thought, well I could do that, and I did better: I wrote a story that really was a story, and Lionel published it in Sesame.

I sent my poems out to other poetry magazines in South Africa. They were Homework all sent back. Then I sent ten poems to the Grahamstown Festival Literary competition. I won a prize.

I sent my poems once again to the other poetry magazines ai??i?? and now they were published.

I sent my stories to another magazine, Frontline, and those were published too.

It was a great time for me. My stories were Purchase sinequan online picked out to go into contemporary collections of stories, and then into South African stories from the beginning. My stories and poems were also broadcast.

By the end of this year (2013), I will have published five books:

LOOKING FOR GOODNESS: Exploring Eustace Cluver and his Family

Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai?? I FEEL PART OF IT: Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai?? My poems

Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai?? THE DANNY DIARIES: Overcoming Schizophrenia

Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai?? THE SAPLER STORY: How to Limit the Human Population

Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai?? ANN AND ALAN: THE END AND THE BEGINNING. Pure love, pure sex, in love, loving.
