It is not uncommon to be scared of the dark when we were younger, yet there were never any justified attempts by others to quell these feelings aside from putting on a night light. Trafford Publishing author Phillip Harris inspiration to help kids overcome their fear of the dark was inspired by a friend’s daughter. Here is his story…

Hi! My name is Phillip Harris. I have just published a children’s book called Inky Pinky. My inspiration for this book came from a friend whose daughter was scared of the dark. I wanted to create a character that children could believe in so that they could sleep better and have a happier life.

I have one published book and another one in production. “The Treasure Hound”. I chose the wrong publisher and it was tied up for seven years. I will take back ownership next year and plan to re-release it with another publisher. I have always loved writing and my 12th grade teacher encouraged me to pursue a literary career. I waited far too long to do so. I have another children’s book almost complete and two novels in progress.

I live in Haddock, Georgia with my wife Nancy and three outside cats. In addition to writing I enjoy fishing and hunting. I have worked at the same place for 38 years and look forward to retiring in 3 years if possible.
