For anyone who doesn’t think they have what it takes to succeed in the world of books and become a published author, hopefully this story will provide the inspiration you need to keep on trying.
Isaac Bowers is an 8th grader at Paul L. Cato Middle School in Bakersfield, California. He is also a published author. Although this is most impressive, this achievement is highlighted by the fact that Bowers actually used to fall behind with his reading and writing skills.
Isaac’s mother was aware that he was falling behind and consequently volunteered to be a reader at the school. 2 years later he was given a class writing assignment on their favorite subject. Another 2 years later and Bowers was a published author.
Bowers co-authored Good Knights for California Football with his grandmother, Alaskan author Carol Welty Roper. However she states that “Isaac basically wrote the story. I just helped with editing and getting it published.”
Although Good Knights for California Football is concerned with a football team, this is only a backdrop as the book actually focuses on more pressing issues such as family problems, gangs, and responsibilities within the community.
Bowers and Roper have already received awards and Bowers regularly attends events so that his fans can personalize their copies with his signature.
Isaac Bowers will be joining Trafford Publishing Author’s Corner with his own contribution in the next week, so stay tuned!
See you soon!
